Saving energy in our homes

Keeping our homes inusulated and warm should be at the top of our list of priorities. It keeps us healthy, it keeps us warm and it saves us money and not only that, it helps to preserve our planet. And, if that is not enough to encourage you to look further in to this, then don't read on.

If like us, you are interested in learning more about what can be done, please take a few minutes to read on.

You may have heard about the HM Government's carbon plan in increasing the energy efficiency of our homes?

The plan focuses on ensuring that new houses are as energy efficient as possible, with a move towards zero carbon homes from 2016 and zero carbon non-domestic buildings from 2019, and the biggest and quickest difference can be made towards this goal by making simple changes to our existing homes and properties and, there is so much that you can do to your existing and older property to improve energy efficiency. And most of them will not cost the earth.

The following is an extract from this plan; 'Almost half of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions are from the energy used to generate heat,4 with the vast majority of our homes still relying on fossil fuel powered gas boilers and with much of our building stock still poorly insulated and inefficient. There is a huge opportunity here, not only to cut greenhouse gas emissions and emissions of harmful pollutants, but also for households and businesses to save money, with the most significant and cost effective opportunities likely to come from better insulation and from replacing inefficient heating systems. We need to ensure that the homes and buildings being built now and in the future are as energy efficient as possible, and the Government is committed to introducing ambitious energy efficiency standards for.'

Helping people to understand more about how and why the energy they are using has so much of an impact is going to play an important role in this ambitious plan and by showing these people how they can make small changes and use less energy, can only help us all.

We can offer you a service that will not only reduce your yearly outgoings but, help you do your small part in sustaining our planet.

Call us now to discuss some of the options that you can do to contribute, in your own small way, and we will be happy to give you some ideas.
